Where Did April Go?

The weeks and months are flying by.  Nathanh is growing and changing so quickly, too quickly! He is becoming such a little boy with so much energy and enthusiasm.  He can make Erwin and I laugh and we are so grateful for him and the happiness he has brought to our lives.  It is so hard to imagine now the emptiness that we were feeling this time last year, and the year before that, and the year before that...you get the picture.   But for anyone who is reading because they are waiting for an amazing little miracle to enter their lives just know that it will happen - somehow - someday, and amazingly enough, the way it is supposed to happen.

And for those of you reading just for the pictures of our amazingly handsome, cutie pie - I shall not disappoint.  Here are a few shots to finish off April.

Visiting the turtle in Nana and Grandpa's garden.

My what big ears you have!

Nathanh was very proud of the flower he picked all by himself!

I love this picture!  It shows Nathanh's personality to a tee!  When we are going out (not here as he has no shoes on) this is typically what I see.  I get him all ready, then I get me ready to go out the door, then I set the alarm.  Nathanh knows the beep, beep sound that it makes and knows to come running to the front door, which he always does with a huge laugh and smile!

Nathanh has started to play peekaboo on the landing half way up the stairs.  He, or I, will hide behind one of the posts and pop out...always worth stopping for a game of peekaboo!

Nathanh had too much energy and was avoiding nap time on this particular day so off we went to a local park to tucker him out.

Look at those finger nails...luckily I am not afraid of messy little boys!

Success!  Mommy's plan worked!

This is Nathanh using the new little fork he got from the Easter bunny.  I am actually starting to see some improvement in his ability to get food into his mouth!  Don't get me wrong, we still have a long way to go...but improvement is good!

This little vest 3-6 month size finally looks just right on him!  Thanks Auntie Kim.

Happy Easter

We started our Easter festivities on Saturday at a friend's house for the first barbecue of the season.  Nathanh got to find eggs in his first Easter egg hunt and mommy and daddy got to enjoy his treasure!
Like his little bag  to carry all of his eggs?  I think I am going to fill it with toys when we go away next month and he can carry his own toys on the airplane.

Mmmm - this one looks good!
The Easter bunny made an appearance at our house and left enormous, floating Easter eggs all over the living room.  The Easter bunny must have known that Nathanh LOVES balloons!

Most of the balloons were weighted down with small plastic eggs but two were weighted down with a new spoon and fork set.  Nathanh found them quickly and was quite excited to try them out!

In awe of the balloons!

Reading with daddy!
Later Sunday night we went to my parent's house for dinner with the family.
"Why does Auntie Jennifer keep putting me in this bag?"

Nathanh knows where the pans are kept at Nana and Grandpa's and someone will always give him a wooden spoon to bang with!!  (He fit right in, as the hockey game was on at the same time!)
When we got home all of the floating eggs had sunk to the ground.  Nathanh was a bit puzzled!

The next day I piled all of the balloons together for some more fun!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

At the Zoo

Today we visited the zoo with Nathanh.  He always enjoys being out and about so it was definitely a hit!  It was fun watching him as he saw all of the animals...it would sometimes take him a moment and some pointing to spot them but loved watching them as soon as he did see them.

Here are some photos of our little outing.
"Waiting a very long time to get into the zoo...mommy and daddy should really get up early...like me!"

"Ta Da - there is a peacock over there and I got to see it with all of its feathers up!"

"Yes mommy I know I have a toy giraffe too...and it is NOT just like my toy one, this one moves and eats!"

"Why is daddy making me ride all of these fake animals.  I want to chase the real thing!"

"Now that`s more like it.  These coyotes sure know how to put on a show."

"Okay, I am looking at you now, hurry up and snap the photo already."

Nathanh fell asleep sometime between the hippopotamus (which we never actually saw) and the grizzly bear.  But it was just a little snooze and he was up again to enjoy our train ride!

"Hey, why are these goats running away from me"

It was a very nice day at the zoo.  I ended up buying a membership for the year so Nathanh and I can go back.  I am not sure how they figured out the pricing but it turned out to be just $25 more for the membership and parking so I though, why not?

Hanging Around Home

Here are some photos from the last few days.
Is something missing?  If you guessed the coffee table, you'd be right.  We moved it, not because it was a danger to Nathanh but because he needed more room for all of his toys!

Nathanh as an old man!  Do any other parents out there have trouble with their child repeatedly eating the bubbles in the bathtub?

Caught between tiger and the ball...which one will Nathanh go for first?  If you guessed tiger, you'd be right!

Nathanh's new favourite activity is getting a book and bringing it to one of us to read to him.  He will bring us 10 - 12 books in a row and sit (or stand) to listen to each book!

I was trying to teach Nathanh to walk with Froggy.

Reading with daddy.

New sunglasses...I don't think he will ever keep them on but daddy really thought he needed a pair!

Nathanh was all smiles in his new bike helmet!

I want to take Nathanh's Buzz ride on toy outside but he needs to have a helmet for wheeled toys so I found one for infants and got it for him.  Daddy put it on him one morning and sent him running in to see me.  It was VERY cute!

Nathanh and monkey just hanging out.

Can Nathanh teach an old frog new tricks?

The Park in Pictures

Nathanh woke up early from his morning nap so we had some time to go to the park before lunch.
First stop - the swings!  Notice how I have forgotten to put Nathanh's soother in his mouth?

This is what happens when I forget to put the soother in his mouth!

"Drat, mommy spoiled my chewing and sucking again!"

Nathanh on the move...got to get to that slide!

Ahh, a stick, life is good!

The only thing better than one stick is two sticks!

"Mommy is busy with the camera, let's just quickly pop out the soother and try out these delicious looking sticks!"
By the way, the reason Nathanh's eyes are cut out of this shot is because I quickly moved when I saw the stick go in the mouth, but I had already clicked the button.

Poking around with my stick!  Good times!

Steering the ship!

Okay, mommy was not ready for this little manoeuvre.  You see this has been the perfect little spot on the playground equipment for Nathanh.  It has one small entrance that I stand at and the other sides are bars and then this step up to the next level.  Until now Nathanh has not been able to get up to the next level...the level with openings for a pole, a ladder and two slides...mommy can't possibly man all of the openings on her own!

On the move again!

"Gotta go check out that yellow digger...and try to eat some sand while mommy's not looking!"
Yes, fun times at the park!
