Exclamation Marks!!

So we are in a restaurant and Nathanh is busying himself by reciting a little poem he knows...

"One, two buckle my shoe
Three, four shut the door
Five, six pick up sticks
Seven, eight lay them straight
NINE, TEN START AGAIN!!"

The last line was yelled.  So I quickly hush Nathanh and remind him that we use little voices in restaurants.  His response..."but mommy I put exclamation marks at the end."

Love that kid!!

Swim Lessons

I know it has been awhile...but I had get this down tonight while it is still fresh in my mind.

Nathanh had his very first swim lesson on his own tonight and he did AWESOME!  I am such a proud mommy.

Nathanh has always loved the water and we have had him in swim lessons on and off right from the time he was six months old.  He actually passed the last of the parent tot levels last October, but was not old enough to advance to the next level.  Kids are supposed to be three before they can go without a parent.  Anyways, our pool recently changed formats to continuous swim lessons.  Meaning that I needed to wait list Nathanh for the spot I wanted (Thursdays, 6:30) and then that spot becomes his indefinitely.  They just advance the kids when they complete the level, but always on the same day and time.  Anyways, a place became available for him and since he was so close to his third birthday they waived the three year old rule.

So after lots of talking about the fact that he would be in the water with just his instructor and not mommy, Nathanh did it!  He was a bit reluctant and even admitted to me that "I am worried mommy."  But when the actual time came he was terrific!  The class was a 5:1 ratio and he was by far the smallest and I imagine the youngest too.  He did everything his instructor told him to do and he just followed along with no difficulties.  He would look over at me in the hot tub from time to time and once he even called out "hi mommy!" with an emphatic wave.  It was so wonderful to watch him doing all of the little songs and skills with his instructor and the other kids.  He is getting to be so independent.

I didn't take my camera with me tonight, it is a pool after all, and I didn't know how Nathanh would do.  But now that I know he is fine, hopefully I can take my camera next week and get some great shots!

December 2012

We've been busy over the Christmas holidays. We've visited two local mountains for some fun in the snow...although mostly Nathanh just likes to eat it! Nathanh has done some karaoke with his cousins and gotten better at climbing. Nathanh got a strider bike from Nana and Grandpa for Christmas. He enjoyed riding it inside and out!! We also ventured out for our first ice skating trip. I was really impressed with Nathanh. He stayed out on the ice for a whole hour! Here are some photos of all our adventures!
