Nathanh's First Camping Trip!

Erwin was able to take a week of holidays so we decided to head to one of our favourite camping destinations - Long Beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island. 

On the way we stopped for lunch and to pick up some candied salmon (my favourite) at Coombs Market...better known as Goats on the Roof...which there literally are although somehow I neglected to get a picture this time around.  Here are some pictures I did manage to take!

This is Nathanh moving in to give the turtle a hug.  He doesn't use his arms to give a hug he just puts his head against you.

We stopped along the way to Long Beach to give Nathanh a chance to stretch his legs...and to wear him out so that he would sleep in the car!

He liked wading in the water.  He also saw a snake for the very first time (not caught on film)...well first snake that has not been behind glass.  Personally, I think Erwin was more caught off guard than Nathanh or me!

Since we left booking a campsite until so late, we had to move sites in the middle of our stay.  It turned out to be a good thing as the second site was way bigger and better.

We strategically timed the move with nap time.

On Wednesday we finally had some weather that was warm enough to allow us to spend the afternoon on the beach.  This was my favourite part of the whole trip...for me beach + sun = vacation!

Okay, still a little misty in the background but there are shadows so I can say the sun was shining!

The mist finally lifted and gave us a beautiful west coast backdrop!

After our afternoon of fun in the sun Nathanh was quite ready for his afternoon nap!

We headed home on the Thursday so that we could do laundry and pack for our next big adventure.  We are leaving for Bratislava, Slovakia very early Saturday morning...stay tuned!
